Unit 9042u was taken off auction line and provided to use providing additional savings of not needing to purchase new equipment. Water Sewer Department has need of an additional dump truck to perform day to day operations and fill the current open position and will help while 785's replacement can be deliverable. Additionally this will help with increasing needs for water line repair, material hauling and assist in reducing the need to contract out dump services. Water Sewer Department would like to purchase Transportations old low boy transport trailer. They have normal need of borrowing transportations new trailer for hauling heavy equipment. This will allow both departments to utilize and have their own equipment hauling without the need to schedule one trailers use. Unit 385 a Ford F550 began to burn approximately 4-5 qts of engine oil per week. It was diagnosed to need a replacement engine. With a current FASTER score of 12.5 it was put out of service in favor of a better running and smaller F350 work truck to meet the Water and Sewer Departments immediate needs. On February 13 2023 unit 785 was involved in a rollover accident which left it as a total loss. A new unit will be purchased in its place as a replacement through Rush Truck Center of Lowell utilizing a Sourcewell Cooperative purchasing contract. A budget adjustment will be brought to council and insurance funds will also be applied towards its replacement. **Please remember that the Purchasing Policy has changed and any item under $35,000 is for information only. All items below fall into this or other categories.** Unit 4065 went to City Council 05/04/21 after bid for $191,000. Due to The Transportation industry continuing to be challenged by unprecedented and escalating economic conditions. This prolonged environment has resulted in cost increases that have far exceeded original expectations. These raw material and component cost increases are driven by, but not limited to, microchip processors, steel, aluminum, resins, and rubber. Factors further contributing to the economic instability include the impact of industry wide labor shortages, the expediting of components, and the highest inflation in nearly 40 years. This has resulted in material charges being passed to the end user. In total Unit 4065 will be looking at $8,277.10 in additional surcharges and delivey fee's. Unit 9263 has already surpassed the original purchase price in repair costs and currently is looking to need extensive repairs and is no longer capable of front line service for the Parking department. A like gasoline unit is availiable for purchase and will have a lower cost of ownership and price per hour of use through a Sourcewell Cooperative purchasing contract through Springdale Tractor. A budget adjustment will also be brought to City Council. Unit 748u is a full size dump truck that was pulled out of service in favor of a 1/4 ton Ford F150 that was slated for surplus. This will better suite OMI / Jacobs day to day operations and reduce cost of operations and emissions for the City of Fayetteville. This also passes on a cost savings for Water Sewer and OMI/ Jacobs. Unit 2102u was pulled out of service due to OMI / Jacobs reporting the unit was having increased maintenance needs. Unit 2144u was taken from the surplus line and put into operation in its place. New F550 Utility Bed 4x4 to replace unit 378 which has passed its useful life with a FASTER score of 15 points. Unit 378 will be decommissioned and sold through GOV DEALS. July 2023 Equipment Committee This vehicle will replace another hybrid in our Criminal Investigation Division. Due to the large amount of equipment that is carried, we wanted to replace that vehicle with a larger capacity vehicle for employee and equipment transportation. It was also the first hybrid truck offered, and we wanted to test the functionality of the hybrid truck. Parks Department work truck expansion - F550 4x4 Dump bed for trail repair and maintenance.
