HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-04-20 - Minutes - PAGE 1 OF 2 FAYETTEVILLE – DRAKE FIELD Airport Board Minutes April 20th, 2023 MEMBERS PRESENT: Zane Chenault, Charles Wallace, Monty Roberts, John Holley, David Hopper, Richard Rost, David Hinton MEMBERS ABSENT: None. OTHERS PRESENT: Chris Brown/City, Jared Rabren/City, Dee McCoy/City, Tamra Kesner/City, Laci Prince/Museum, Kyle Bennett/Garver ITEM # 1: Approval of the Airport Board Minutes for March 16th, 2023 • A motion to approve the March 16th, 2023 was made by David Hinton. John Holley seconded the motion. The motion carried. ITEM # 2: Receiving of Reports : • AIRPORT ACTIVITY: Tower operations for March totaled 1,750, reflecting an increase over February but a decrease from 2022. March fuel sales totaled 65,713 gallons, again showing positive growth over February but a decrease from 2022. • FAA RUNWAY REHAB AND LIGHTING PROJECT: Work crews completed their final night closure of this project last week. There are a few small items to address, but we expect this project to finally be closed out within the coming days. The only long-term delay will be the transfer switch to the new light vault, which has again been delayed. • FUEL FARM REHABILITATION PROJECT: At this time we have no updates on this project. • AIRPORT MASTER PLAN UPDATE: The FAA sent notice they are actively working on our grant offer for this project. At this time we have not officially received the offer but expect it shortly. • WILDLIFE FENCE REHABILITATION: We have officially made it through the approval process with the FAA and completed the Certification of Funds internally. We will begin advertising for this project next week. • TAXIWAY ECHO EXTENSION: We hosted two FAA representatives earlier this month to discuss adjusting our Capital Investment Plan (CIP) in light of changes to this project. We have now pushed construction of this project to 2025 to allow for an Environmental Assessment to be funded later this year. • FUEL VENDOR RFP: The FBO’s contract with Avfuel officially expires this year, which means we are beginning the process of seeking proposals from fuel vendors. We expect to advertise the Request for Proposal this weekend. • Financial Report: • As of March 31, 2023 the FBO revenue totaled $854,281.05 and the expenses totaled $700,480.65 for a total profit of $150,800.40. • There are no vacant T-Hangars with 96 people on the waiting list. One new hangar lease was signed in March. PAGE 2 OF 2 MUSEUM REPORT: Laci Prince stated the museum had 1,289 guests in the month of March. Congratulations to our volunteer and board treasurer Gus Kuklinski for being awarded Volunteer of the Year at this year’s Arkansas Museum Association Award Ceremony. Gus has fundraised a little over $300,000 for the museum since 2020, and volunteers over 600 hours a year. Camp Drake is sold out with 15 kids on the waiting list. 200 cars are signed up for the Car Show that will take place on April 29th. The Museum Board currently has two open board positions. ITEM #3: New Business: • Financial Report- Chris Brown stated that Paul Becker was not available to come to the meeting. Charles Wallace asked when he would be available and for the questions in the February minutes to be addressed. ITEM # 4: Old Business: • None. ITEM #5: Other Business: Items from the Airport Board: • The board members discussed agenda ideas for the upcoming meetings. Charles Wallace stated that he will try to get a representative from Drone Up to come out and present about the Walmart drone based delivery project. • The June meeting will be the financial report presented by Paul Becker. • The board agreed to not have a meeting in July. • The agenda for the August meeting will include the Master Plan update.
