HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-03-16 - Minutes -FAYETTEVILLE — DRAKE FIELD Airport Board Minutes March 16th, 2023 MEMBERS PRESENT: Zane Chenault, Charles Wallace, Monty Roberts, John Holley, David Hopper, Richard Rost MEMBERS ABSENT: David Hinton OTHERS PRESENT: Jared Rabren/City, Dee McCoy/City, Tamra Kesner/City, Laci Prince/Museum, Kyle Bennett/Garver, Rick McKinney/Public ITEM # 1: Approval of the Airport Board Minutes for February 16th, 2023 • A motion to approve the February 16th, 2023 was made by Zane Chenault. Daivd Hopper seconded the motion. The motion carried. ITEM # 2: Receiving of Reports : • AIRPORT ACTIVITY: Tower operations for January totaled 1,762, reflecting an increase from December but a decrease from January of 2022. January fuel sales totaled 61,449 gallons, an increase from both the previous month and from 2021. • FAA RUNWAY REHAB AND LIGHTING PROJECT: Repair work began on the fuel farm entrance in mid January and will be completed as weather allows. Final runway striping and close out will likely not resume until March or as temperatures warm. • FUEL FARM REHABILITATION PROJECT: We have reestablished contact with Bassco Services Inc in regards to the fuel farm project. At this time they are indicating they will seek to rebid the project. • AIRPORT MASTER PLAN UPDATE: The motion submitted for the City Council meeting of February 7th has passed. This motion grants Garver permission to apply for an FAA planning grant to cover 90% of the projected costs of the Master Plan update. Once the grant is received Garver will begin work on the update. We anticipate this happening in early Spring. Garver will reach out to the ADA to request the additional 10% of project costs making the City's portion $0. • WILDLIFE FENCE REHABILITATION: This project is underway and currently being reviewed by the FAA to clear environmental and obstruction concerns. We are on schedule at this time. • TAXIWAY BRAVO REPAIR: Bids have been accepted and an award has been made to Action Asphalt to begin repair work. We expect this work to begin any day now as weather allows. • Financial Report: • As of February 28, 2023 the FBO revenue totaled $559,166.50 and the expenses totaled $425,616.33 for a total profit of $133,550.17. • There are no vacant T-Hangars with 96 people on the waiting list. No new hangar leases was signed in February. PAGE 1 OF 2 MUSEUM REPORT: Laci Prince stated the museum had 738 guests in the month of February, which is a record amount for the museum. The War Bird weekend has been moved to May 11-14 due to some mechanical issues with Doc. A Blackhawk viewing and car show will still take place on March 17-19. ITEM #3: New Business: • Tour of Airport Tower ITEM # 4: Old Business: • 2022 Revenue/Expense Report will be reported by Paul Becker at the April 201h, 2023 Airport Board meeting. • The City of Fayetteville CIP will be submitted to the City Council in April. Jared Rabren stated that if any of the Airport Board members had suggestions for items to be considered, please let him know. ITEM #5: Other Business: Items from the Airport Board: • Monty Roberts sugguested looking into a way to make a trailhead from the airport to tie into the trail system. • Charles Wallace discussed the need of more t-hangars at the airport. Jared Rabren stated there would need to be a lot of ground work done on the field to be able to make the grounds suitable to build on. MEETING ADJOURNED AT 2:59 pm.
