BACKGROUND: Unit 6029 is a Bobcat S595 Skid Steer that has been in service since May of 2018. It is 5 years into a 6-year life cycle but currently requires some costly repairs. DISCUSSION: The estimate for repairs from the manufacturer's authorized repair facility is $24,121.67. Considering the cost of the required repairs and only months remaining on life expectancy, Fleet recommends replacement instead of repair. BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT: The replacement for unit 6029 was not budgeted until 2024. However, Fleet is recommending that moving this replacement up is the most cost-effective approach at this time. A budget adjustment is being submitted to utilize fund balance for this purchase. This item was approved at the March 14th Equipment Committee.
