NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby authorizes the addition of a 0.5 temporary full time equivalent position to the Finance and Internal Services Department to assist with the transition of the Accounting Director Position in 2023. Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby approves a budget adjustment, a copy of which is attached to this Resolution. BACKGROUND: The current Accounting Director will be retiring in March 2023. Her replacement will need time and assistance to learn and transition into the Accounting Director role, as well as assist with other complex accounting duties required by this position. DISCUSSION: An additional temporary part time position is being requested for the Accounting division. The implementation of the ERP system created many modifications to internal processes; therefore, the division needs to have the Accounting Director on board to transition financial statement preparation and audit interface with our external auditor. I am requesting this temporary part time position be funded through 2023. The position would be part time (maximum 50%) for the remainder of 2023. The responsibilities of this position would encompass financial statement preparation and accounting processes, as well as problem resolution. BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT: This position would primarily be funded through savings in the current budget relating to a currently unfilled new position in the Accounting division and General Fund reserves.
