BACKGROUND: Unit 831 is a Bobcat E45 Excavator and has been in service since March of 2018. It is halfway through its life expectancy but currently requires some costly repairs. DISCUSSION: The estimate for repairs from the manufacturer's authorized repair facility is $37,593.38. Fleet has collected $31,316.06 life -to -date for the replacement of this unit. Considering the cost of the required repairs, Fleet can purchase a new unit for less than it would cost to repair the unit. Fleet recommends replacement instead of repairing the unit. BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT: The replacement for unit 831 was not budgeted until 2027. However, moving this replacement up is the most cost-effective approach at this time.
