New legislation should protect the property rights of Fayetteville residents and Hosts who provide a powerful
economic boost for local businesses, and continue to help NorthWest Arkansas tourism thrive.
Please protect critical tax revenue generated by STRs, and their ability to Host in Fayetteville. Adding more
regulation makes more work for the city and stiffles revenue. People are just trying to make ends meet by
having STR after businesses were unconstitutionally shut down during the pandemic.

Good Morning,
1
I got a call from Charlie Watson yesterday about STRs. He was very interested in the subject and has recently gotten a
CUP approved for his Type 2 STR. After describing the last few meetings and committee recommendation with him, he
wanted to note:
He is concerned about light trespass, since one and two-family structures are not regulated by the outdoor
lighting ordinance. He has had personal experience with light trespass from the STR next to his property
(seemed to be related to the guest, not the owner, and the owner ultimately addressed the issue), and he thinks
it would be good to require outdoor lighting requirements be applies to STRs.
He has a concern about corporate ownership of STRs and that being a negative experience for both guests and
neighbors.
He was in favor of the proposal to remove the CUP requirement from commercial zoning districts and keep it for
residential. He thinks staff should have more authority to deal with these but also thinks it’s good for
neighborhoods to have a voice.
Thanks!
