BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,
ARKANSAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby authorizes the purchase of
wall blocks from Industrial Precast, Inc., pursuant to Resolution 323-21, in the amount of $88,217.05
for the Mission Boulevard Trail.
Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby approves a budget
adjustment, a copy of which is attached to this Resolution.

SUBJECT: 2022-1035 Mission Blvd. Trail purchase of retaining wall blocks.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the purchase of retaining wall blocks for the Mission Boulevard
Trail from Industrial Precast Inc. using bulk bid Resolution 323-21 from bid #22-11 in the total
amount of $88,217.05 including sales tax and approval of a budget adjustment.
BACKGROUND:
City crews will soon begin construction of a shared use paved trail along Mission Boulevard
(Highway 45) from Viewpoint to Maple Street. This 1.5-mile corridor is planned to include a 12
and 10-foot-wide shared use paved trail with green space separation including trees, lighting,
curb and storm drainage with a focus on bike and pedestrian safety. This project is identified as
a priority in the Active Transportation Master Plan and as a catalyst project in the Northwest
Arkansas Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan. In addition, this project ranks number 6 by the Mobility
Plan project prioritization scoring matrix.
DISCUSSION:
There are 5 locations along the Mission Blvd. Corridor where retaining walls are necessary to
construct the trail along existing slopes. The retaining walls will be redi-rock large blocks with
ledgestone finish and Arkansas sandstone color as shown below.
BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT:
Funding for the purchase of light fixtures and poles for a total amount of $88,217.05 has been
allocated from the 2019 trail bond funds. The budget adjustment moves funds into the project.
