Item B.1
Dear Mr. Mayor and Councilmembers,
Fayetteville still has characteristics that have been lost in many cities today in the United States. We have
neighborhoods in which neighbors know each other’s names, and they look out for each other. I bought property in one
such neighborhood, Parksdale, now a Neighborhood Conservation District.
We need to conserve what we have, conserve what makes Fayetteville Fayetteville. This is why our neighborhood
made the effort to become a Neighborhood Conservation District: to conserve what we have. Carving out our
neighborhoods for short term rentals won’t conserve our neighborhoods. In fact, it removes homes from Fayetteville
residents altogether, long term renters and homeowners.
What is your vision of Fayetteville in 10 or twenty years? A place where working people can live, either renting or
owning? Please be conservative about allowing more proliferation of short-term rentals in Fayetteville. We need to
conserve what we have. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Ruth Van Antwerp
