Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe. To Fayetteville City Council Members: This correspondence is to voice, certainly at the moment, opposition to the plans understood to include a hotel at the southern end of the current parking lot across from the Walton Arts Center. We regularly attend events at the Walton Arts Center, and because we are seniors, we park in the lot at issue for easier access to the facility. It is our understanding that the hotel plans include insufficient parking availability for its patrons, both on, and off, site. Parking, as everyone is aware, is already tedious in the area, and the plans for, yet, another venue to have to compete for limited space, seems most ill-advised. Alternative valet parking in the School Ave. parking deck only moves the competition to additional limited space. Understanding that a study to address the parking issue is currently underway, it seems only logical that, at a minimum, any plans for further development should be tabled until the study is completed. We urge the members of the city council to reconsider any plans for further development that would eliminate, or enhance competition for, any of the limited parking currently available in the lot across from the Walton Arts Center. Alternatively, again, it would certainly seem prudent to delay any action until the study being conducted has been completed, and its results evaluated. Linda and David Hargis 1
