Upon further reading the background notes on this agenda item, I have rethought my position and support the renaming
of Archibald Yell to Nelson Hackett.
Replacing Yell's crumbling tombstone with an obelisk in 2019 alone assures that his place in history will not soon be
forgotten.
Let's accept the well-reasoned proposal from the Black Historical Preservation Commission and do this, Fayetteville! It's
the right thing to do.
Respectfully,
Renée Farmer

Dear Fayetteville City Council:
Just a quick note to say that I'm all for the Nelson Hackett Project. To me, it's what history buffs, budding scholars and
emeriti professors do best: unearth these gems of history and try to tell these stories of the voiceless.
But is displacing other history by renaming streets the answer? Is there no new street, park, or building that could honor
Mr. Nelson Hackett's memory by bearing his name?
Thank you all for your service and consideration of this vote before you.
Respectfully,
Renée Farmer
