BACKGROUND: The West Side Water Resource Recovery Facility has two HVAC units in the MCC building. This building contains all of the control units for the process equipment at the treatment facility. The two HVAC units are currently not working. DISCUSSION: Staff is looking to replace both HVAC units at the West Side treatment facility. Both units are original to the facility and have reached their user life. The cost to fix each unit isn't justifiable for their age. The existing units are 15 years old and they cool both electrical rooms for our biological basins process at West Side. In each building, there is sensitive equipment that must stay between 50-85 degrees to operate correctly or this equipment will fault out causing process equipment to shut down at the treatment facility. Elite Building Solutions has provided a quote for the two HVAC unit replacements in the amount of $41,650.00. There are two options for the units, coated coils and uncoated coils. This building does not have a corrosive environment and only contains electrical equipment, so staff would prefer to go with the uncoated coils to save money since the coating is not necessary. Staff recommends approval of the replacement of the two HVAC units from Elite Building Solutions in the amount of $41,650.00 plus taxes to maintain a temperature controlled environment for electrical equipment at the West Side treatment facility.
