Dear city council members,
Regarding the pet ordinance being heard tonight:
I would suggest broadening out the language in Subsection (C) to include any animal shelter, not just Fayetteville’s.
(“…unless obtained from and in cooperation with the Fayetteville Animal Shelter…”) For example, Washington County
government operates its own animal shelter, within the Fayetteville city limits, and does great work as well.
The city’s existing animals ordinance includes a definition of "Animal Shelter":
Animal shelter. Any facility operated by a humane society, municipal agency or its authorized agent(s) for the purpose of
impounding or caring for animals held under the authority of this chapter or state law.
Thanks,
Evelyn Rios Stafford
