Call to Order Scott called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm. 2. In Attendance: Crow, Eastin, Chesser, Jennen, Adkisson Absent: Colvin Staff: Morell, Scott, Evans, Jack 3. Approval of Previous Month's UFAB Minutes UFAB Motion: Adkisson made a motion to approve minutes. Jennen seconded the motion. Motion passed 5-0-0. 4. Introduction to members Scott introduced new members, John Crow, Ken Eastin and William Chesser. There is one vacant position, that will be filled in the first quarter. 5. Previous meeting follow ups a. Bioremediation plants for certain conditions — Engineering has recommendations in their code, and there are other places where we give recommendations. 6. UFAB Orientation Scott discussed the following: • What we do: We advise the Mayor and City Council on Arboricultural issues. We make recommendations to staff and give ideas for Urban Forestry Improvement. • This year OF staff will focus on Inventory, Assessment and Urban Forestry Management Plan being created by on outside contractor. • 2022 Budget • 2022 Projects 7. Native or Invasive Plant Presentation- Lacey Jennen Jennen discussed Tasty Native Trees: • PawPaw — Largest fruit of native trees • American Persimmon — Sweet, fleshy fruit • Chickasaw Plum — Small plum fruit • Eastern Redbud — Showy, edible Black Walnut — Nuts are edible for humans and animals • Winged Sumac — Berries • White Oak — White oak acorns February — Eastin March — Hunter April - Crow 9. Elect a Chair and Vice -Chair UFAB Motion: Crow nominated Jennen as Chair. Jennen nominated Adkisson. Scott called for a vote and Jennen was nominated as Chair. Motion passed 5-0-0. Jennen nominated Adkisson as Vice -Chair. Chesser seconded the motion. Motion passed 5-0-0. Adkisson nominated as Vice -Chair. 12. Meeting Options Scott asked the board to decide on meeting in person, or to continue virtually. Adkisson said he would prefer remote meetings. Chesser agreed that he would like to stay virtual. UFAB Motion: Chesser moved to hold regular monthly meetings virtually, with exceptions for outdoor meeting. Adkisson seconded the motion. Motion passed 4-0-0. 13.
