BACKGROUND: A Weidenmann Super 600 is a heavy-duty verticutter, turf sweeper, and mower in one machine. During our research to find a verticutter to adequately maintain our Bermuda athletic field turf, we could not find another comparable item that was of similar size, nor that could perform the multiple duties this item can. This item is an attachment that is able to not only verticut, but also fraise and flail mow and collect the clippings, as well as other debris. There are many other types of attachments that can verticut, mow or sweep, but this is the only item that can perform all duties with a 5.9 cubic yard hopper. DISCUSSION: This purchase is one of the approved 2022 expansion requests. There are no other like items in the City currently. Fleet recommends an ordinance waiving the requirements of formal competitive bidding for the purchase of a Weidenmann Super 600 in the discounted amount of $42,500 through P & K Equipment of Springdale, AR.
