Airport Board Minutes
August 19th, 2021
MEMBERS PRESENT: Zane Chenault, Kayla Bruskas, Charles Wallace, Todd Crane, Monty Roberts
MEMBERS ABSENT: Ian Tholking, David Hopper
OTHERS PRESENT: Summer Fallen/City, Dee McCoy/City, Tamra Kesner/City, Rick McKinney/member of the
public, Laci Shuffield
ITEM # 1: Call to Order. Zane Chenault.
ITEM # 2: Old Business:
• Discussion of the Airport Board survey results.
• Zane Chenault constructed a survey on priorities that the Airport Board would like to focus on. He
then put together a summary of the results. (attached)
1. Maintenance Shop: Todd Crane stated that there is not a place for a full maintenance
shop on the airfield. He suggested letting another lease lapse and not renewing to have
adequate space. There was a discussion on how many permanent customers would be
needed in order for the shop to be successful. Charles Wallace stated that he had been told
it would be between 25-30. Todd Crane stated that he felt like it would take more like 50.
2. Adding T-Hangars: this is a big concern of the whole board, but without funding, there is
little that can be done.
3. More Fly -Ins: Summer Fallen suggested a fly -in on October 2nd. Zane Chenault suggested
we wait to do the fly -in in the Spring due to Covid. Charles Wallace suggested Summer Fallen
speak with Laci Shuffield from the Military Museum to discuss setting a fly -in up.
4. On -Site Restaurant: Charles Wallace stated that it would need to be a nice restaurant for
people to come in. Todd Crane mentioned that lack of window space for that area would be
an issue.
5. Branded URL: The city media department stated that we do have a URL. It is iflyfyvar.com.
6. Guest Swag: Several board members made suggestions on what type of guest swag they
thought would be best. The top votes were for pens, hats, and t-shirts.
7.Razorback Themed Terminal: A Razorback rep stated that they would be willing to help
plan for a mural inside of the door coming off the ramp and that if the Airport would pay for
the supplies up to $2,000, they would cover the cost of the labor.
8. Playground/Sports Field: Experience Fayetteville told Summer Fallen that there was not a
huge need for sports space except for a sand volleyball court. It was suggested that it could
go in the area across from the old gas station at North end of the airport.
• Summer Fallen mentioned that the Airport requested two more full time employees be added to this
years budget. One maintenance person and one more FBO line staff. There was also a request made
for $10,000 in janitorial supplies.

Airport Services Manager's Report:
• AIRPORT ACTIVITY: Tower operations for August totaled 3,437 which is up from the
operations that took place in July and those that took place August 2020. August fuel sales
totaled 61,103 gallons, which is an increase in sales that took place in July and those that
took place in August 2020.
• FAA TERMINAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT: This project remains open due to supply
chain issues regarding parts needed for the system completion.
• FAA RUNWAY REHAB AND LIGHTING PROJECT: Contracts were taken to agenda
session on Tuesday. The signed application has been submitted to the FAA. The pre -
construction meeting will be scheduled at a later date.
• SOAR NWA: The event sold out and was a huge success for Open Avenues. Planning
for 2022 is already being discussed.
• October FLY -IN: The City Mask Ordinance requires that mask be worn outside on City
property. Because of this we are going to push back the fly in to a date where staying
within compliance is not an issue.
Respectfully Submitted,
Summer Fallen, Airport Director
