Urban Forestry Advisory Board
April 7, 2021

Zoom Meeting
Members: Will Dockery -.Chair, Eric Boles, Preston Thibodaux, Blake Tedford, Lacey Jennen,
Zane Colvin, Samuel Adkisson

1. Call to Order: Dockery called the meeting to order at 3:30 pm.
2. SPECIAL PORTION — Student presentations- Landscape Architecture students have
been working on a new vision for the North West Arkansas Mall. They will present to our
board their plans with a description of their proposal for the Mall. The proposals will
include green spaces that focus on trees.
Students presented to UFAB.
3. In Attendance: Dockery, Boles, Thibodaux, Jennen, Colvin, Adkisson
Staff: Morell, Scott, and Evans
4. Approval of Previous Month's UFAB Minutes- Will Dockery, Chair
UFAB Motion: Colvin moved to approve minutes. Jennen seconded the motion.
Motion passed 7-0-0.
5. Invasive plant follow up -
Board discussed the invasive plant list.
UFAB Motion: Boles moved to approve the Invasive Plant List, with the addition of
Rose of Sharon and Golden Rain Tree. Colvin seconded the motion.
Motion passed 7-0-0.
6. Native or Invasive Plant Presentation- Preston Thibodaux
Thibodaux discussed Wisteria.

o Chinese Wisteria — Highly Invasive
o Japanese Wisteria — Highly Invasive
o American Wisteria - Native

7. Monthly numbers.
In February and March, four grading permits were approved. Of the 9.44 Acres of
development, 4.23 acres was tree canopy, and 1.57 acres were preserved. Six hundred
88 trees will be planted as part of the landscape requirements for the projects.
Year to date, Urban Forestry has reviewed 73 acres of development, and 23.81 acres was
canopy covered. 78% of 23.8 acres of tree canopy has been preserved. Four hundred
eighty-six trees will be planted as part of the landscape requirements.
8. Other Business
A. Amazing Tree of 2021
a. Any new nominations? Triple Trunk Oak in Gulley Park and in great shape.
The board discussed other Amazing Tree nominations.
UFAB Motion: Boles moved to nominate the Post Oak tree at the library as the
Amazing Tree of 2021. Thibodaux seconded the motion. Motion passed 7-0-0.
B. Code Status; Planning Commission Voted to table and get follow up feedback from
developers
C. Clarence Craft Clean -Up on April 10t". Wear long sleeves, pants, and boots. Please
bring a water bottle for yourself. 10:00 to 12:00
9. Adjournment Time: Dockery adjourned the meeting at 4:51 pm.
