Subject: Purchase of one Tractor for the Airport
Sonia Gutierrez
Holly Herztberg
The Airport currently owns a Tug to transport personal aircraft from their hangar to the
airfield or to fuel up. This Tug was purchased long ago from Millionair when the City
took it over. It was never put on Fleet's records. This unit is extremely outdated and
has been requiring increasing maintenance in the last couple years. Thankfully, the
Airport has a project set up just for this.
Upon review, the current Tug does not have the horsepower needed to pull many of
today's aircraft. A small tractor will perform the same duties and can be more versatile
with additional options. A Kubota L4060HST-LE Tractor is available off the Sourcewell
Contract in the amount of $22,995.09 through the Springdale Tractor.
A budget adjustment will be presented to Council to move funds from Airport's project to
Fleet's project for this purchase.

Subject: Purchase of one skid steer with forestry cutter for Water & Sewer Division
Unit 6006 is a 2013 Bobcat skid steer and unit 814 is a 2007 Wacker Trench Roller.
Both Units have exceeded their life expectancies. Fleet is recommending replacement
of these units because Water & Sewer has also found a better way to utilize their funds.
Unit 6006 is a pretty small skid steer and cannot handle many attachments. It would be
better utilized around Water & Sewer's yard to maneuver pipes and other heavy items.
Fleet suggests reissuing this unit as 6006U to recognize this second life.
Unit 814 is a Trench Roller that isn't utilized often because they have a different roller.
It is more cost effective to replace this item with something that will be used often and
rent or borrow a trench roller in the times of need.
Through the Sourcewell Contract, a Kubota tracked Skid Steer in the amount of
$71,402.77 and a Forestry cutter in the amount $38,597.91, for the combined total of
$110,000.68 through Springdale Tractor.
Sufficient funds have been budgeted and collected for these purchases.

Subject: Reissuing three mowers to the Transportation and Fire Divisions
Units 5069, 5074, 5075, 5076 and 5078 were all just replaced for the Parks Department.
These units are no longer fit for front line use.
The Fire Department maintains all their lawns and other property themselves and when
a decent mower comes in Fleet generally swaps out one of Fire's older mowers.
Station 4 currently has unit 5014U, a 2008 Hustler Super Z and Fleet would like to
replace it with 5075U. The additional two mowers are needed for the new Fire Stations
being built; they will be expansions to their non-Motorpool Fleet. Fleet will not be
replacing other mowers for quite a while, so they would like to go ahead and have these
set aside for them. These mowers will be 5069U and 5078U.
Transportation's Right of Way crew typically runs their mowers non-stop during the
mowing season. Since taking on the additional State Highway areas a couple years
ago, that only added mowing area to the task list. Fleet is reissuing two of these
mowers as backups for this crew for when they have one down or an especially busy
day. The reissued units will be 5074U and 5076U.
Each mower will be reissued at 10% of its original purchase price, per Fleet policy.
This item should be voted on by the Equipment Committee because it is an expansion to
the Fleet. However, it will not be presented to City Council, as it is not a purchase.

Subject: Reissuing one Backhoe to the Transportation Division
Unit 6022, a 2017 John Deere Backhoe, was turned in a few months ago and a
replacement was approved and ordered last month. This was due to significant
damage to the boom rendering it unrepairable. The remainder of the unit is still in
decent condition.
In Transportation's salt building (aka tent building) there are sloped walls and tight
spaces to maneuver around when trying to load materials into trucks. When the winter
storm hit several weeks ago, Fleet quickly removed the boom and bucket from this
backhoe. This essentially turned it into a small loader. It worked wonderfully for
loading!
Fleet would like to reissue this backhoe as unit 6022U for the Transportation
Department in the amount of 10% of its original purchase price, per Fleet policy.
This item should be voted on by the Equipment Committee because it is an expansion to
the Fleet. However, it will not be presented to City Council, as it is not a purchase.
