CITY OF
911.11.- s''‘' FAYETTEVILLE CITY COUNCIL MEMO
4dir ARKANSAS
MEETING OF DECEMBER 15, 2020
TO: Mayor and City Council
THRU: Mayor: Lioneld Jordon
FROM: Paul Becker, Chief Financial Officer
DATE: November 25, 2020
SUBJECT: Staff recommends acceptance and appropriation of Cares Act Funding.
RECOMMENDATION:
The administration requests the Council to accept an award in the amount of $2,915,062
and approve the attached budget adjustment appropriating a transfer into the General Fund to
reimburse personnel expenditures eligible for reimbursement pursuant to the approved funding
request.
BACKGROUND / DISCUSSION:
A part of the Federal Funding Program passed by Congress to meet the challenges of the
pandemic included aid to States, Counties and Municipalities. The Cares Act provided for direct
funding to large Cities and State flow through funding for smaller municipalities and counties. The
State has developed a program to allow counties and municipalities in Arkansas to apply for
reimbursements for expenditures relating to the coronavirus from the established CRF fund.
Permission to apply for funding was approved by the City Council on 10/06/2020 pursuant to
Resolution 236-20. The City subsequently applied for reimbursement of eligible public safety
personnel expenses which were approved by the State. This request is to appropriate the grant
and budget the reimbursements requested to the General Fund.
BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT:
Acceptance and appropriation of this grant funding will lessen the financial impact of the pandemic
on the City of Fayetteville.
