Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby changes the name of North
Smith Avenue to North Game Day View as shown on the map attached as Exhibit A.

SUBJECT: Staff recommends renaming N Smith Avenue to the more descriptive street
name of N Game Day View.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends renaming N Smith Avenue to the more descriptive street name of N Game
Day View.
BACKGROUND:
N Smith Avenue (Ave) is approximately 350 feet in length and was built shortly after the
construction of Razorback Stadium. The road services three single family homes and has very
little chance of extending to the north due to an existing parking lot. All properties along the
street are owned by one developer who has recently built 3 story residential homes. The street
and intersection with W Markham Rd are completely located within the City of Fayetteville Right
of Way.
DISCUSSION:
The City's GIS division, 911 Central Dispatch, and the Fire Department reviewed the road name
and current residential addresses. Staff recommends renaming the road and re -addressing the
three residential structures to enhance the uniqueness of this location considering the extremely
proximity to Razorback Stadium. The owner believes that the name Smith is a common and
nondescript. They believe the new name North Game Day View "N Game Day Vw" would
invoke a character and show a coherent relationship to the stadium. The new road name of N
Game Day Vw was reviewed by our street naming committee and unanimously approved.
BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT:
None. The property owner has agreed to be billed for the new sign.
