Viewpoint Dr., in addition to a previous payment made to ServiceMaster in the amount of $5,232.74 for sewer damage mitigation services. BACKGROUND: On October 6, 2019, roots caused a blockage in the sewer main on Viewpoint Drive. The residence at 1840 E. Viewpoint Dr. experienced flooding as a result of the blockage. The home is owned by Rex Thompson. DISCUSSION: ServiceMaster was called immediately to provide mitigation services to prevent further damage to the residence. ServiceMaster has already been paid by the City in the amount of $5,232.74. Rex Thompson incurred expenses in the total amount of $7,039.89 that are valid for reimbursement by the City. The reimbursement will cover the costs of a new heat and air unit, ductwork, a hot water heater repair, storage unit rental costs, and odor and mold elimination. The documentation is attached that details the costs of the total requested reimbursement. Staff recommends reimbursement in the amount of $7,039.89 to Rex Thompson for costs associated with the restoration of his home after the sewer overflow and flooding. BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT: Funds are available in the non -vehicular damage account within the Water and Sewer Fund. I have also enclosed a letter from my insurance company (Nationwide) denying the claim. All of these repairs and replacemen s are due to the damage done to the house due to the city's sewage line flooding. There are some nickel and dime items that I purchased that I will not charge the city for. The major cost is the replacement of e Heat and AC unit along with the new insulation on the air ducts. All of these items I have paid for myself, so there are not outstanding invoices.
