BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,
ARKANSAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby awards Bid
#19-44, authorizes the purchase of a Kawasaki Mule from Freedom Powersports of Fayetteville in the
amount of $10,836.90 for use by the Transportation Department, and further authorizes future purchases for
multiple user departments and divisions based on the pricing in Bid #19-44.

SUBJECT: Purchase of one Kawasaki Mule for Transportation under Bid 19-44
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to approve the purchase of a Kawasaki Mule available at Freedom Powersports of
Fayetteville, AR for the awarded low price of $10,836.90 as a replacement for Transportation,
and to approve future purchases under Bid 19-44.
BACKGROUND:
Transportation's unit 6009 is a Bobcat soil conditioner attachment that is no longer required by
the Right of Way Division. They are now using a different material and would benefit more
through the purchase of a new UTV to help haul equipment.
Purchasing accepted Bid 19-44 on 10/08/2019. Through this bid, a Kawasaki Mule is available
at Freedom Powersports of Fayetteville, AR at the awarded low price of $10,836.90.
Fleet anticipates purchasing multiple units through this bid from the date of contract acceptance
by the City. The items individually are less than $20,000.00 and will not be brought to City
Council for approval. However, per policy the Equipment Committee will be notified of each
purchase.
DISCUSSION:
Fleet recommends the purchase of this Mule from for Transportation's need. In addition, Fleet
recommends the Council approve future purchases made matching Bid 19-44 to accommodate
the replacement needs of multiple user departments.
BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT:
Sufficient funds were budgeted, and the slight shortfall of collections will be made up in the sale
of the old unit.
This was approved at Equipment Committee on 11/12/2019.
