BACKGROUND: Wilson Pool continues to be one the most popular recreational facilities offered by the City of Fayetteville. Over 300 youth participated in swim lessons, 114 youth were members of the Wahoo Summer Swim Team, all of which are included in the 20,270 total visitors to Wilson Pool in 2018. Another reason patrons visit the only City operated aquatic facility is through party rentals at designated times throughout the week, producing $5,870 in revenues last year. DISCUSSION: Parks and Recreation staff recently analyzed the possibility of expanding the popular party rental program. Staff is requesting to add two large 20 -foot shade umbrellas in the current deck space to enhance the experience of the patrons, provide additional deck shade, and make Wilson Pool more attractive for party rentals. Providing shaded areas at the pool is important as people become much more conscious about sun exposure. The addition of umbrellas will give the pool a much-needed upgrade. Improving the patron experience will generate more revenue and help Wilson Pool get closer to being more financially sustainable. See attached pool map. BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT: Staff solicited bids from vendors and three were received. The lowest bid from The Pool and Spa Store was $11,343 which includes equipment and installation. A project contingency amount of 10% is included in the total project cost of $12,478. Parks and Recreation staff is requesting a budget adjustment to recognize Park Land Dedication Fees in the Southwest Quadrant in the amount of $12,478 which has already been collected.
