BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,
ARKANSAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby awards Bid #18-52 and
authorizes the purchase of two (2) Freightliner M2-106 Recycling trucks with Kann Bodies in the total
amount of $343,952.00 from Doggett Freightliner of Arkansas, LLC for use by the Recycling and Trash
Collection Division.

SUBJECT: Purchase of Two Expansion Recycling Trucks for Recycling and Trash
Collection
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council approve the purchase of two Freightliner M2-106 Recycling Trucks with Kann
Bodies for the low bid received through Bid 18-52 in the amount of $171,976.00 each, for a total
of $343,952.00 available through Doggett Freightliner of Springdale, AR for use by the
Recycling and Trash Collection Division.
BACKGROUND:
This is an expansion of the City's Recycling services. These two trucks are to serve multi -family
complexes with 24 units or less. This was a suggestion set out in the Kessler Master Plan.
Please note that Bid 18-56 was done for a Trough style recycling truck. No vendor submitted a
bid that fit the City's needs. Also, the lowest bid submitted was $200,142.00 per truck, which is
$28,166.00 more than the low bid above.
The current body style was designed and adjusted to fit our operation. Purchasing the same
body style will save the City cost, training of drivers and technicians, and the space of stocking
additional parts needed for different trucks.
DISCUSSION:
Fleet recommends the purchase of two Freightliner M2-106 Recycling Trucks with Kann Bodies
for the low bid received through Bid 18-52 in the amount of $171,976.00 each, for a total of
$343,952.00 available through Doggett Freightliner of Springdale, AR for use by the Recycling
and Trash Collection Division.
BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT:
Sufficient funds have been budgeted for these purchases.
