BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,
ARKANSAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby authorizes the purchase of
a Peterbilt 520 with New Way Roto PAC Body from Arkansas Municipal Equipment, Inc. in the amount
of $272,907.22, pursuant to Sourcewell Cooperative Purchasing Contract #112014-NWY, for use by the
Recycling and Trash Collection Division.

SUBJECT: Purchase of one Side Loader for Recycling and Trash Collection
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council approve the purchase of a Peterbilt 520 with New Way Roto Pac Body available for
the Sourcewell price of $272,907.22 through Arkansas Municipal Equipment of Poyen, AR for
use by the Recycling and Trash Collection Department.
BACKGROUND:
The Recycling and Trash Collection division has a program of picking up food waste from local
restaurants and some schools. These organics are currently collected with a standard side load
truck, the same style used to pick up trash containers. Fleet and RTC worked together to find a
more efficient vehicle. A side load truck with an auger will shred and mix the organics as it is
transferred to the packer body, making the process more efficient.
DISCUSSION:
Fleet recommends the purchase of a Peterbilt 520 with New Way Roto Pac Body available for
the Sourcewell price of $272,907.22 through Arkansas Municipal Equipment of Poyen, AR for
use by the Recycling and Trash Collection Department.
BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT:
Sufficient funds have been budgeted for this purchase.
This item was approved at the February 12, 2019 Equipment Committee.
