BACKGROUND: During a check for leaks at 2190 S Razorback Road, Facilities Maintenance staff discovered mold had grown on the carpets and ceiling tiles and suggested a mold remediation company be hired to correct the mold problem in the building. On September 12, 2018 a purchase order with SurfCo Restoration & Construction in the amount of $16,903.12 was issued for mold remediation at 2190 S Razorback Road. DISCUSSION: After getting in the building, tearing out carpets, tiles, and cabinets, SurfCo found 6 additional problem areas that were affected by mold growth. SurfCo submitted a change order in the amount of $8,550.10 to correct the additional problem areas. After the mold remediation is completed, a mold clearance test must be performed for the entire building. Therefore, all areas in the building must be clear of mold. BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT: The current purchase order amount is $16,903.12. This change order in the amount of $8,550.10 will bring the new purchase order total to $25,453.22.
