BACKGROUND: Currently at the Fleet shop there is a 6,000 gallon unleaded fuel tank purchased in 2007. At the time of the purchase the city had many vehicles that required diesel fuel. For that reason, we have ample diesel fuel storage. The City has been moving to more unleaded fueled vehicles and need larger storage capacity. With new emission regulations more diesel vehicles are required to have Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) each year. Currently Fleet has a small hatch in the side of the shop with a hose for the DEF fluid. This is cumbersome for the drivers who must fuel at the station and then drive around the building to get DEF fluid. This is also cumbersome for Fleet staff as the vehicles waiting to get fluid block work bays. When the fuel station was set up at Fleet, the two fuel dispensers were purchased used. They are now having mechanical issues frequently, causing disruptions in service to the user departments. DISCUSSION: Fleet recommends exchanging the current 6,000 gallon above ground tank for a 10,000 gallon tank. Fleet recommends the purchase of a Tote Cabinet that can be placed at the fueling station to house the DEF fluid. This will make fueling an easier process for operators, give Fleet staff more open areas and allow Fleet to meter the DEF fluid for better reporting. Fleet recommends replacing the two dispensers at the Fleet site and one dispenser at Police Department's site with a digital system that will work with up to date software. Mailing Address: 113 W.
