BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,
ARKANSAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby approves a budget
adjustment, a copy of which is attached to this Resolution, in the amount of $170,000.00 to provide
funds for engineering and construction costs associated with the removal and replacement of the Town
Center entry stairs and landing.

SUBJECT: Budget Adjustment for appropriation of funds for Town Center Entry Stair
Replacement
RECOMMENDATION:
A resolution for the approval of a budget Adjustment of $170,000 for the Engineering and
Construction Cost associated with the removal and replacement of the Town Center Entry stairs
and landing.
BACKGROUND:
Because of the Peace Fountain leaking chlorinated water, corrosion of the ramp sub structure
failed, causing a collapse of the ramp. As repairs were being made, staff discovered the same
leaks was causing corrosion of the sub structure at the entry stairs and landing. Over time this
could have the same consequence as ramp.
DISCUSSION:
Staff later conducted additional investigations at the stairs, revealing settlement closest to the
fountain, and rear the center of the stairs_ Similar signs of settlement occurred prior to the ramp
collapse. Therefiare a a pra dive measure Staff recommends irnmediate-removal and
replacement. Coordination meetings with the Town Center Director to minimize impact on their
previously scheduled events yielded a time frame for repairs in late January.
BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT:
The attached budget adjustment will provide the authorized funds for the engineering and
construction of the steps.
