BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby awards Bid #17-49 and
authorizes the purchase of five (5) International 7300 4x2 Recycling Trucks with Kann Bodies from
Diamond International Trucks, Inc. d/b/a Summit Truck Group of Lowell, Arkansas in the total amount
of $845,500.00 for use by the Recycling and Trash Collection Division.

SUBJECT: Purchase of five Recycling Trucks for Recycling and Trash Collection
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council approve the purchase of five International 7300 4x2 Recycling Trucks with Kann
Bodies in the amount of $169,100.00 each, for a total of $845,500.00 available through
Summit Truck Group of Lowell, AR through Bid 17-49 for use in the Recycling and Trash
Department.
BACKGROUND:
Unit 489 is 2007 Freightliner Recycle Truck that has exceeded its 8 year life expectancy. This
unit has also exceeded its 60,000 mileage expectancy and currently has 69,149 miles and
15,730 hours.
Unit 490 is 2007 Freightliner Recycle Truck that has exceeded its 8 year life expectancy. This
unit has also exceeded its 60,000 mileage expectancy and currently has 66,847 miles and
14,758 hours.
Unit 491 is 2007 Freightliner Recycle Truck that has exceeded its 8 year life expectancy. This
unit has also exceeded its 60,000 mileage expectancy and currently has 70,729 miles and
15,100 hours.
Unit 492 is 2007 Freightliner Recycle Truck that has exceeded its 8 year life expectancy. This
unit has also exceeded its 60,000 mileage expectancy and currently has 64,350 miles and
14,755 hours.
Unit 494 is 2007 Freightliner Recycle Truck that has exceeded its 8 year life expectancy. This
unit has also exceeded its 60,000 mileage expectancy and currently has 72,383 miles and
14,409 hours.
These replacements had been pushed back awaiting the decision on the future of the
Recycling Program. These trucks match our existing fleet, to continue the current recycling
operation. Currently, Fleet is patching the compactors, but most need to be replaced. The
cost to replace the compactors would be $11,227.58 per truck.

DISCUSSION:
Fleet recommends the purchase of five International 7300 4x2 Recycling Trucks with Kann
Bodies in the amount of $169,100.00 each, for a total of $845,500.00 available through
Summit Truck Group of Lowell, AR through Bid 17-49 for use in the Recycling and Trash
Department.
BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT:
Sufficient funds have been budgeted and collected for this purchase.
This item was approved by the Equipment Committee on October 10, 2017.
