BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby awards Bid #17-50 and
authorizes the purchase of a Caterpillar 930M Four -Wheel Drive Articulated Loader from JA Riggs Tractor
Company of Springdale, Arkansas in the amount of $175,962.00 for use by the Recycling and Trash
Collection Division.

SUBJECT: Purchase of one Loader for Recycling and Trash Collection
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council approve the purchase of one Caterpillar 930M Four -Wheel Drive Articulated
Loader in the amount of $175,962.00 available through JA Riggs Tractor Co. of Springdale, AR
through Bid 17-50 for use in the Recycling and Trash Department.
BACKGROUND:
Unit 692 is a 2010 John Deere Front End Loader. It has exceeded the 6 year life expectancy.
With nearly 9,000 hours, it has also exceeded the 5,000 hour expectancy. This loader is used
in the transfer station and Recycling and Trash. It pushes trash into a transport trailer to be
hauled to the landfill. This is the only piece of equipment that performs this duty.
DISCUSSION:
Fleet recommends the purchase of one Caterpillar 930M Four -Wheel Drive Articulated Loader
in the amount of $175,962.00 available through JA Riggs Tractor Co. of Springdale, AR through
Bid 17-50 for use in the Recycling and Trash Department.
BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT:
Sufficient funds have been budgeted. There is a slight shortfall in collection that should be
made up in the sale of the old unit.
This item was approved by the Equipment Committee on October 10, 2017.
