BACKGROUND: The West Side WRRF is designed to treat 10.0 million gallons of wastewater per day. As part of the treatment process, the wastewater passes through one of two fine screening devices that remove debris such as wipes, rages and toys from the wastewater. This debris is removed to protect downstream equipment, to meet regulatory water quality permits, to protect Goose Creek (where fully treated water is ultimately discharged), and to remove debris from biosolids allowing the biosolids to be sent to the Biosolids Management Site and receive further treatment to be sold as a Class A Biosolid fertilizer. One of the Brackett Green fine screening devices has a damaged upper rotating shaft assembly that needs to be replaced. The assembly includes but is not limited to the upper shaft, sprockets, bearings and housing, seals, etc. DISCUSSION: Ovivo USA, LLC is the sole source provider of Ovivo parts necessary to repair the Brackett Green fine screen at the West Side WRRF (see attached letter).
