HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017-05-18 - Minutes -FAYETTEVILLE —DRAKE FIELD Airport Board Minutes May 18, 2017 MEMBERS PRESENT: Darryl Riddell, Paul Algee, Marty Burggraf, Bill Corley, Todd Crane, Lizzie Johnson, Rick Bailey MEMBERS ABSENT: None OTHERS PRESENT: Summer Fallen/City, Dee McCoy/City, Ben Perea/Garver Engineers ITEM # 1: Call to Order, Darryl Riddell ITEM # 2: 'Approval of the Airport Board Minutes of the April 20, 2017 meeting • A motion to approve the April 20, 2017 minutes was made by Paul Algee and seconded by Marty Burggraf. The motion carried. ITEM # 3: Receiving of Reports: A. Director's Report— provided by Summer Fallen -Financial Coordinator: • Airport Activity: Tower operations in April were 2,025, which is up from March. April fuel sales were 31,176 which is down from March. • Roof Rehab Project: Franklin and Sons has started on this project. The Old Terminal Building, FAA Building and FBO Hangar have been completed. They are currently working on the Terminal Building and Museum. • Corporate Roof Rehab Project: The grant applications submitted to the Arkansas Department of Aeronautics made the May 17, 2017 agenda. Both grant applications were approved for funding in the amount of $75,170.00. • Fly -In: The Fly -In held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 had a great turn out. The Museum brought the Stinson over for display. The Fire Department brought over two fire trucks, and the Police Department brought over a police car for the public to tour. Pat Ross brought one of his aircraft over for display. Afterglow provided chips, a sound system for music, and helped grill the hamburgers and hot-dogs thatwere donated by Tyson Foods. Midland Industrial Service donated buns, cookies, cheese, charcoal and plates. Garver Engineering Consultants donated bottled water. It is estimated that we had over 200 attendees and sold 943 gallons of fuel. B. Financial Report: provided by Summer Fallen -Financial Coordinator: • Tower operations were at 2,025, which is up from March. • Fuel sales were 31,176. • FBO expenditures were $413,589.72 and the FBO revenue was at $524,615.63 with a total unaudited profit of $111,025.91. C. T -hangar Report - provided by Dee McCoy -Administrative Assistant: • The airport has 3 vacant single size t -hangars. There are currently 3 people on the waiting list for a twin size hangar. D. Museum Report -provided by Rick McKinney: The Museum has kept busy with events, mostly weddings. • The military side of the Museum was open during the city's Fly -In. Quite a few people came to tour the facility. I' PAGE 1 OF 2 • A Hispanic Car Show will be held at the Museum on May 21, 2017. This is a fundraiser for an automotive mechanic scholarship. • The Commerative Air Force is planning on coming out during Bikes, Blues and BBQ to give rides. • Plans to bus the Walmart Associates to the Museum to see Sam Walton's plane have been put on hold for the time being. • A 1942 Jeep has been donated. It is from the World War era, and contains consecutive serial numbers. ITEM # 5: Old Business: None ITEM # 6: New Business: None ITEM # 7: Other Business: 0 A. Items from the Airport Board: • Paul Algee asked about the Goodyear Blimp coming to the airfield. Summer Fallen said that they are coming out on May 23, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. to survey the area to possibly come to the airfield in October. B.
