BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby awards Bid #17-26 and
authorizes the purchase of two (2) 2017 Ford F-550 diesel trucks and a Ford F-250 pickup truck from
Superior Automotive Group of Siloam Springs, Arkansas in the total amount of $149,375.00 for use by the
Water and Sewer Operations Division.

A resolution to authorize the purchase of one Ford F550 Diesel 4x4 Extended Cab with Knapheide Utility Body (Item
#2) is in the amount of $58,557.00, one Ford F250 4x4, Extended Cab 8' Reading Utility Body (Item # 1) in the
amount of $41,767.00, and one Ford F550 Diesel 4x4 Regular Cab with Knapheide dump body (Item #5) is available
in the amount of $49,051.00. The total cost for these three trucks is $149,375.00. All trucks to be purchased were
the lowest price received through Bid 17-26 through Superior Automotive Group of Siloam Springs, AR for use in

SUBJECT: Purchase of six Mowers for Parks Department
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council approve the purchase of one Ford F550 Diesel 44 Extended Cab with Knapheide
Utility Body (Item #2) is in the amount of $58,557.00, one Ford F250 44, Extended Cab 8'
Reading Utility Body (Item # 1) in the amount of $41,767.00, and one Ford F550 Diesel 4x4
Regular Cab with Knapheide dump body (Item #5) is available in the amount of $49,051.00. The
total cost for these three trucks is $149,375.00. All trucks to be purchased were the lowest price
received through Bid 17-26 through Superior Automotive Group -of Siloam Springs, AR for use in
the Water and Sewer Department.
BACKGROUND:
Unit 370 is a 2009 Ford F550 Utility Body truck that has now reached 82% of its original
purchase in life to date maintenance cost and has exceeded its life expectancy.
Unit 2103 is a 2006 Ford F150 4x4 Utility body. It currently has 62% of its original purchase
price in life to date maintenance cost, has exceeded its life expectancy and mileage expectancy.
An expansion was approved with the 2017 budget for Water & Sewer so that they can haul
aggregate material for repairs using vacuum excavation. This truck will also have the towing
capacity to pull heavy trailers, a vacuum excavator and directional boring machine.
DISCUSSION:
Fleet recommends the purchase of one Ford F550 Diesel 4x4 Extended Cab with Knapheide
Utility Body (Item #2) is in the amount of $58,557.00, one Ford F250 4x4, Extended Cab 8'
Reading Utility Body (Item # 1) in the amount of $41,767.00, and one Ford F550 Diesel 4x4
Regular Cab with Knapheide dump body (Item #5) is available in the amount of $49,051.00. The
total cost for these three trucks is $149,375.00. All trucks to be purchased were the lowest price
received through Bid 17-26 through Superior Automotive Group of Siloam Springs, AR for use in
the Water and Sewer Department.

BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT:
Sufficient funds have been budgeted for each of these purchases. There is a shortfall in
collection for units 370 and 2103, the majority of which would be made up in the sale of the old
units.
This purchase was approved by the Equipment Committee on March 28, 2017.
