Mountain Street, Fayetteville, AR Members: Glenda Patterson, Chair; Russell Dye; Damon Lipinski; Aubrey Shepherd; Amy Jones; Alan Ostner, Audra Rogers City Staff: Chanel Pennington, Operations Assistant; John Scott, Urban Forester; Lee Porter, Urban Forester AGENDA: 1. Call to Order Glenda Patterson, Chair Patterson called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm. Members Present: Patterson, Dye, Ostner, and Shepherd. Lipinski arrived at 4:03 PM. Rogers arrived at 4:27 PM. Members Absent: Jones 2. Approval of January and December UFAB Minutes Glenda Patterson, Chair January Minutes UFAB Motion: Ostner motioned to approve the minutes, Shepherd seconded the motion. Motion passed, 5-0-0. December 2016 Minutes UFAB Motion: Lipinski motioned to accept the minutes, Dye seconded the motion. Motion passed, 4-0-0. 3. Native or Invasive Plant Presentation Russell Dye Dye presented on Chasmanthium latifolium, he discussed the following: I. General description II. Geographical Distribution III. Culture IV. Conditions for Planting V. Uses VI. Benefits and Problems 4. New Member Introduction / Orientation Lee Porter Porter presented the Development Review process with an example of a recent development. Development Submittal List III. Urban Forestry Review Process IV. Tree Preservation Plan 5. Staff Reports and Updates Staff I. Annual Tree Preservation Numbers a. January = .72 acres reviewed, 97% canopy preserved. II. 167 Clerical Updates a. Staff is working on cleaning up the clerical errors in the document. III. Restaurant on the Corner, Parking a. Jones inquired about the mature trees in that location and the trucks parking under the trees. Staff followed up on the request and It is private property and the trucks are allowed to park there. IV. Proper Tree lifting during the Construction a. Staff will review with the crews on the proper way to lift the trees with mechanical assistance. V. Entertainment District Pruning Project a. The commercial bids were due on 2/8/17. VI. College Avenue Planting a. The trees are installed and appear to be in good health. 6. Other Business I. Volunteers for plant presentation a. March- Patterson b. April- Rogers c. May- Ostner II. Chair and Vice Chair Nominations a. Lipinski nominated Patterson for Chair, Ostner seconded the nomination. Patterson accepted the nomination and it was approved, 6-0-0. b. Dye nominated Lipinski for the Vice Chair position. Lipinski expressed his concern over possibly being late to the meetings. Lipinski accepted the nomination, Rogers seconded the nomination and it was approved, 6-0-0. III. Lipinski asked about the trees that were damaged by vehicles on Crossover Staff is working on a replacement plan. 7. Adjourn Dye motioned to adjourn, Ostner seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 4:57 PM. UFAB minutes provides the basic discussions and motions of the UFAB meeting.
