BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby approves the purchase of a
Police Package Chevrolet Tahoe from Superior Automotive Group of Siloam Springs in the amount of
$31,262.00, pursuant to a state procurement contract, for use by the Police Department.

SUBJECT: Purchase of one Tahoe for Police
RECOMMENDATION:
That City Council approve. the purchase of one Chevrolet Tahoe, Police Package available for
the State Contract price in the amount of $31,262.00 from Superior Chevrolet of Siloam Springs,
AR for use by the Police Department.
BACKGROUND:
The presence of marked patrol vehicles have a positive effect on crime prevention and
community policing efforts and residents feel safer. Take-home vehicles last longer due to
officers' sense of ownership and the vehicles are not being used 24/7 by several officers.
Officers with take-home vehicles are more readily available to respond to an emergency or
critical incident. Also, a take-home vehicle program is excellent for recruitment and retention of
police officers. It allows the Fayetteville Police Department to compete with neighboring
agencies in Springdale, Rogers and Bentonville; all of these police departments have a take-
home vehicle program. Funding for Police Take Home Vehicles are included in the current
Capital Improvements Program.
DISCUSSION:
Fleet recommends the purchase of one Chevrolet Tahoe, Police Package available for the State
Contract price in the amount of $31,262.00 from Superior Chevrolet of Siloam Springs, AR for
use by the Police Department.
BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT:
Sufficient funds have been budgeted for this purchase.
This purchase was approved by the Equipment Committee on December 13, 2016.
