WHEREAS, Seven Hills through its homeless shelter and transitional housing program has long provided vital assistance and care for Fayetteville's homeless population; and WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville has chosen to provide support to Seven Hills by leasing its property for Seven Hills' transitional housing south of Huntsville Road and will provide some building maintenance and utility expense help to Seven Hills; and WHEREAS, new leadership of Seven Hills has reenergized its vital outreach and service programs for our homeless, but is in need of more community support. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby expresses its support for the Seven Hills mission to assist the Fayetteville homeless population and to request our citizens to honor this season of giving by making a generous contribution to Seven Hills. Enclosed is the proposed Resolution which Alderman Tennant will probably seek to walk on to the December 20th meeting. The City Council will have to suspend the rules by a two thirds vote (6 affirmative votes) to place this Resolution on the Agenda. Then the Resolution would require five affirmative votes to pass. It could also be presented in January, but I thought that the Christmas season might generate more contributions.
