The project goal is to replace the existing Dickson Street lighting fixtures with new lighting fixtures that will save the City of Fayetteville money, use less energy and light the street better. BACKGROUND: Recently, several business owners and citizens have complained that the existing lighting along W. Dickson Street does not provide enough light for adequate safety along the street. Currently there are 70 - 170 watt older light fixtures along W. Dickson Street. DISCUSSION: The Transportation Department has identified a 60 watt LED replacement fixture that will provide more light output at reduced energy cost. SWEPCO will provide an incentive to the city in the amount of $4967.83 for the replacement of the existing fixtures. Total project cost is $13,728 ($8760 after the SWEPCO incentive). The estimated electricity savings associated with the new lighting will be $3725 per year with a 3.5 to 4.0 year project payback. BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT: The Transportation Department will purchase and install the new LED lighting. Adequate funds are available in the Lighting Equipment Maintenance budget. The $4967.83 incentive will be credited to that same budget. Attachments: SWEPCO Commercial & Industrial Energy Efficiency Program Application Mailing Address: 113 W.
