CITY COUNCIL AGENDA MEMO
THRU: Jeremy Pate, Dir. Development Services
FROM: Yolanda Fields, Community Resources Director
DATE: November 13, 2015
SUBJECT: Approval of a Budget Adjustment for the Community Resources Division
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of a budget adjustment to recognize and budget Ranger's Pantry
and CDBG program income received.
BACKGROUND:
Community Resources would like to recognize program income from three payments from a lien
payoff plan, as well as donations from citizens and local businesses for Ranger's Pantry.
DISCUSSION:
In July 2015, an agreement was reached with the owners of 1747 N. Oakland Ave. to prepay
the CDBG program $11,737.58 in installments due to the terms of the contract being violated.
The first payment was recognized in August. There have been three more payments since then
that need to recognized totaling $1,500.
Aside from a $25 private donation made in August, Ranger's Pantry has held several events
with local businesses which resulted in donations from the customers of those businesses, as
well as donations directly from the businesses. Two events at Big Star Lounge resulted in $247,
a f=irst Thursday event resulted in $180, a Bark N' Paws event resulted in $73, and a Kingfish
event resulted in $219. The total donations needing to be recognized is $744.
BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT:
Increase Housing Contract Services by $1,500
Increase Community Outreach Projects by $744
