A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR A 2014 KEEP
AMERICA BEAUTIFUL/DR. PEPPER SNAPPLE GROUP GRANT IN THE
AMOUNT OF $6,800.00
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby authorizes
application for a 2013 Keep America Beautiful/Dr. Pepper Snapple Group grant in the amount of
$6,800.00.

RECOMMENDATION
Fayetteville City Administration recommends authorizing application for a 2014 Keep America Beautiful — Dr. Pepper
Snapple Grant for outdoor recycling containers.
BACKGROUND
Council authorized creation of a City Committee through resolution 179-12 for Keep Fayetteville Beautiful which is an
affiliate of Keep Arkansas Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful. The affiliation allows grants to be applied for through
Keep America Beautiful. A Keep America Beautiful / Dr. Pepper Snapple Grant for outdoor recycling containers is being
sought for Walker Park, Gary Hampton Park and Lake Fayetteville trailhead by the Botanical Gardens.
DISCUSSION
The goal of this project is to place recycling containers for the collection of bottles and cans at Walker Park, Gary
Hampton Park and the Lake Fayetteville trailhead by the Botanical Gardens. Walker Park and Gary Hampton Park were
chosen due to the high volume of people during warmer months participating in the baseball and softball programs. There
would be a request for 17 recycling containers for the three sites with an estimated value of $6,800. Partial grant awards
are also possible. The application process is an online application and therefore nothing is attached with this memo.
BUDGET IMPACT
None. The grant would receive recycling containers and no money would be received. This is a not a matching grant.
