A RESOLUTION TO AWARD BID #14-32 AND AUTHORIZE THE
PURCHASE OF THIRTY-FIVE (35) MOBILE COMPUTER SYSTEMS FROM
FUTURE LINK OF ILLINOIS, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $150,500.00 FOR
USE IN FAYETTEVILLE POLICE PATROL VEHICLES.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby awards Bid
#14-32 and authorizes the purchase of thirty-five (35) Mobile Computer Systems from Future
Link of Illinois, Inc. in the amount of $150,500.00 for use in Fayetteville Police patrol vehicles.

RECOMMENDATION:
STAFF MEMO
It is recommended City Council adopt a resolution approving the purchase of thirty-five
(35) Datalux Tracer 5 mobile computers from Future Link of Illinois Inc. as per bid #14-32
in the amount of $150,500.00.
BACKGROUND:
The police department deployed mobile computer terminals in patrol vehicles in 1999.
Our current terminals, purchased in 2008, are out of warranty, and they do not support
our current operating system. This project is a scheduled replacement project.
DISCUSSION:
These computer systems interface with the New World Systems Computer Aided
Dispatch, Mobile Messaging and Automatic Vehicle Location systems, as well as provide
access to the Arkansas and National Crime Information Center databases. These
computers are essential to run electronic ticketing, accident reconstruction and in -car
word processing software. Additionally, these computers will use the same mounting
hardware that is already installed in our patrol vehicles.
BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT:
This project is already funded as a Capital Improvement Project, and there will be no
operating expense impact until 2019.
