A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE TRANSPORTATION DIVISION
OVERLAY/SIDEWALK PROJECTS LIST FOR 2013
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby approves
the Transportation Division Overlay/Sidewalk Projects list for 2013. A copy of the 2013
Overlay/Sidewalk Projects list, marked Exhibit "A", is attached hereto and made a part hereof.

Subject: Approval of 2013 Overlay/Sidewalk Projects
PROPOSAL:
Staff and the Street Committee recommend a resolution approving the Transportation Division
overlay/sidewalks projects list for 2013. The 2013 project list was presented to the Street Committee on
February 4, 2013. The Street Committee requests the final list be presented to the City Council for its approval
by resolution in accordance with Ordinance No. 5173.
RECOMMENDATION:
Each year the Transportation Division reviews the need for street overlays based on existing conditions of
streets. The In -House Pavement Improvements program includes asphalt, curb and guttering, pavement striping,
and preparation costs for the overlays. The Sidewalk Improvements program improves the connectivity of the
sidewalk system by constructing new sidewalk and replacing or repairing sidewalks throughout the city. This
project also includes funding for ADA accessible ramps required for the In -House Pavement Improvements.
The 2013 overlay project primary list proposes a total of 36,508 linear feet or 6.8 miles summarized by ward as
follows:
Ward #1 12,267 linear feet
(2.3 miles)
Ward #2 8,577 linear feet
(1.6 miles)
Ward #3 8,575 linear feet
(1.6 miles)
Ward #4 7,089 linear feet
(1.3 miles)
The plan also includes an additional 5.1 miles of streets for micro seal and an alternate list of asphalt overlays.

The 2013 sidewalk improvements project list proposes a total of 27,348 linear feet summarized by ward as
follows:

BUDGET IMPACT•
Funds for labor, equipment, materials, and services are included in the 2013 Sales Tax Capital Improvements
Fund project budgets (In -House Pavement Improvements $1,865,000; Sidewalk Improvements $115,000).
