Typically, used vehicles are purchased for drug enforcement operations; however, the level of grant funding awarded has allowed us to purchase a new vehicle under the state contract. The pick-up truck to be purchased is a 4x4 due to the rural areas and rugged terrain within our jurisdictional boundaries of Washington and Madison Counties. This type of vehicle is also needed for its' storage, hauling capacity, and for transporting large items of evidence associated with meth labs and marijuana growing operations. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the purchase of a new undercover drug enforcement vehicle from Springdale Dodge, via state contract, using grant funds awarded from the 2012 Arkansas State Police Asset Forfeiture Grant in the amount of $24,200.
