FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby authorizes
acceptance of a continuation of the 2012-2013 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant
for funding of the Fourth Judicial District Drug Task Force for the 2013-2014 grant period in the
total amount of $197,333.59.

Subject: Grant Award for 41h Judicial District Drug Task Force
PROPOSAL:
THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS
DEPARTMENT CORRESPONDENCE
The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, Office of Intergovernmental Services has
awarded a continuation of our 2012-13 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program for
grant funding to the 41h Judicial District Drug Task Force (DTF) in the following amounts: federal - $164,444,
state - $32,889, and local match - $21,926. The JAG grant defines required local matching funds based on a
percentage split of 75/15/10 in awarded federal and state funds plus local funds. To receive the federal and state
portion of the JAG, the 4th DTF must commit to a match of at least $21,926. However, Fayetteville provides
additional funds in the amount of $233,000 to maintain the same level of effectiveness for the Drug
Enforcement program. The other member agencies also contribute additional funds totaling $93,560. The
2013-2014 fiscal year grant award is the same amount as funded in the 2012-2013 grant period.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends acceptance of the continuation of our 2012-2013 Justice Assistance Grant award for
federal and state funding of the 4th Judicial District Drug Task Force for the 2013-14 grant period in the amount
of $164,444 and $32,889, respectively. If you should have any comments or questions regarding this grant

BUDGET IMPACT:
The existing budget will be sufficient for the balance of 2013 and will remain stable in 2014.

RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of grant closeout documents for the 2013-2014 Justice
Assistance Grant which provided state and federal funds to the 4tn Judicial District Drug Task
Force.
BACKGROUND:
City Council approved Resolution Number 160-13 on July 16, 2013 which accepted the
Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant for funding of the Fourth Judicial District Drug
Task Force for the 2013-2014 grant period in the total amount of $197,333.59.
DISCUSSION:
A requirement of this grant funding is to submit a Year End Financial and Inventory
Report. These two documents will initiate the grant closeout process performed by the Office of
Intergovernmental Services within the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration.
BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT:
There are no budget or staffing issues related to the closeout process of this grant.

The 4th 1DDTF has utilized the funds obtained through this grant to further its' goals and objective, and maintained current staffing levels throughout the grant year. The 4th;opened `833 cases, made 676 arrests, and

9.6 fr of Pseudoephedrine; 567 gr of Psilocybin Mushrooms; 2,668 du of Prescription Pills; 345 ml of Steriods; 24 du of LSD; .3 gr of Herion; 3 gr of Opium; 16 Meth labs; 31 Firearms;"$164,645 in State Assets;
