HomeMy WebLinkAbout155-13 RESOLUTIONRESOLUTION NO. 155-13 A RESOLUTION TO THANK THE ARKANSAS HIGHWAY COMMISSION FOR THE HIGHWAY 265 IMPROVEMENT PROJECT AND TO REQUEST THAT FULL PRECAUTIONS FOR WATERSHED PROTECTION ARE TAKEN ADJOINING LAKE FAYETTEVILLE PARK WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville, the Arkansas Highway Commission and the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department have long worked well together for vital improvements to highways within the Fayetteville City limits; and WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville wishes to thank the Arkansas Highway Commission and Highway and Transportation Department for the needed and excellent improvements accomplished and under construction in the Highway 265 improvement project and many other improvement projects that have helped ease congestion and improve traffic capacity throughout Fayetteville; and WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville realizes that the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department and its contractors must and do comply with all stormwater protection measures required by the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality and Federal authorities; and WHEREAS, the Arkansas Highway Commission should more closely monitor and abide by the standards the City of Fayetteville has set for protecting Lake Fayetteville. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby expresses its gratitude and thanks for all of the vital highway improvement projects completed by the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department within Fayetteville and especially the ongoing Highway 265 improvement project and requests that the Arkansas Highway Commission more closely monitor and abide by the standards the City of Fayetteville has and for protecting Lake Fayetteville which is Fayetteville's emergency secondary water supply for our citizens.
