Date: December 21, 2012 Subject: Purchase of two Pickups for Fire Department THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS DEPARTMENT CORRESPONDENCE PROPOSAL: That City Council approve the purchase of two pickups in the amount of $83,284 from Terex Equipment, bid #12-77 for use by Fire Department. RECOMMENDATION: Fire Dept has two pickups that are slated for replacement in 2013. Unit 2058 (a 2002 Ford F150) was originally scheduled for replacement in 2011 and was pushed back to 2013. Unit 2079 (a 2005 Chevy Silverado) was originally scheduled for replacement in 2012 and was pushed back to 2013. Neither truck is dependable for full time front line use; both are too lightweight to carry all the equipment needed by the Fire Dept. Fleet recently purchased two Fire pickups. We contacted the vendor and they have agreed to let us piggy -back bid 12-77 which saves the City the cost of having to re -bid it. I recommend the purchase of two new heavy duty pickups for Fire Dept. from Terex Equipment Services in the amount of $83,284 This purchase was approved by the Equipment Committee at the meeting of December 27, 2012. BUDGET IMPACT: These units were budgeted for on both the operating and capital sides for 2013. RESOLUTION NO.
