A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE CRAIN FORD
OF LITTLE ROCK IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $51,390.00 FOR THE
PURCHASE OF TWO (2) FORD FUSION HYBRID -ELECTRIC SEDANS
FOR USE BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT PURSUANT TO THE STATE
PROCUREMENT AGREEMENT
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby approves an
agreement with Crain Ford of Little Rock in the total amount of $51,390.00 for the purchase of
two (2) Ford Fusion hybrid -electric sedans for use by the Police Department pursuant to the state
procurement agreement.

Subject: Purchase of two Hybrid Electric sedans for Police Department
PROPOSAL: That City Council approve the purchase of two Ford Fusion Hybrid -electric sedans off the State
Vehicle Contract from Crain Ford of Little Rock, AR in the amount of $51,390.
RECOMMENDATION: Units 1071 and 1081 are 2001 Ford Crown Interceptor sedans. These two detective
units are ready to be replaced — they are no longer dependable for full time front line service. In an effort to be
more environmentally friendly, Fleet is replacing these two units with Ford Fusion Hybrid -electric sedans off
the State Contract. The price is $25,695 each, available from Crain Ford of Little Rock, AR.
At 39 miles per gallon combined usage, it will save the Police Department on fuel costs. Also, because they are
hybrids, each car will eliminate 8,000 lbs per year in carbon emissions.
I recommend approval of the purchase of two hybrid -electric sedans off the State Vehicle Contract in the
amount of $51,390.
This purchase was unanimously approved by the Equipment Committee on March 27, 2012.
BUDGET IMPACT: These replacements were budgeted for on both the capital and operating sides.
