Date: March 2, 2012 Subject: Purchase of Six Chevy Tahoes for Police Department PROPOSAL: That City Council approve the purchase of six Chevy Tahoes from Bale Chevrolet of Little Rock, AR off the State Vehicle Purchase Contract in the amount of $25,093 each plus $9,907 each for upfit costs, for a total of $210,000 for six units. RECOMMENDATION: The Chevy Tahoes are available this year off the Arkansas State Vehicle Purchase Contract for $25,093 each. Fleet will order the Tahoes from Bale Chevrolet with upfit items needed (cage unit, consoles, computer mounts, video camera mount, light bar, window screens, trunk box etc.) By ordering these items at the same time as the vehicle they are tax exempt as they are part of the vehicle. I recommend the purchase of these units off the State Vehicle contract. These units are replacements for six Crown Vic sedans for use by Police Department for 24 hour patrol This purchase was approved by the Equipment Committee on February 28, 2012. BUDGET IMPACT: These replacements were budgeted for on both the capital and operating sides. RESOLUTION NO.
