A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE TRANSPORTATION DIVISION
OVERLAY/SIDEWALK PROJECTS LIST FOR 2012
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby approves
the Transportation Division Overlay/Sidewalk Projects list for 2012. A copy of the 2012
Overlay/Sidewalk Projects list, marked Exhibit "A", is attached hereto and made a part hereof.

Subject: Approval of 2012 Overlay/Sidewalk Projects
PROPOSAL:
Staff and the Street Committee recommend a resolution approving the Transportation Division
overlay/sidewalks projects list for 2012. The 2012 project list was presented to the Street Committee on
November 29, 2011. The Street Committee requests the final list be presented to the City Council for its
approval by resolution in accordance with Ordinance No. 5173.
RECOMMENDATION:
Each year the Transportation Division reviews the need for street overlays based on existing conditions of
streets. The In -House Pavement Improvements program includes asphalt, curb and guttering, pavement striping,
and preparation costs for the overlays. The Sidewalk Improvements program improves the connectivity of the
sidewalk system by constructing new sidewalk and replacing or repairing sidewalks throughout the city. This
project also includes funding for ADA accessible ramps required for the In -House Pavement Improvements.
The 2012 overlay project list proposes a total of 65,060 linear feet or 12.32 miles summarized by ward as
follows:

THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds for labor, equipment, materials, and services are included in the 2012 Sales Tax Capital Improvements
Fund project budgets (In -House Pavement Improvements $1,865,000; Sidewalk Improvements $635,000).
Additional Federal Transit Administration grant funds ($387,500) are available for sidewalk construction and
transit shelter and bench pads.
