That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby amends Resolution No. 226-10 approving the Transportation Division Overlay/Sidewalk Projects list for 2011 by reducing overlay/sidewalk projects in accordance with Exhibit "A", to provide for drainage maintenance. Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby approves a budget adjustment, a copy of which is attached as Exhibit "B". RECOMMENDATION: The Transportation Division currently assigns one five person crew to minimize routine drainage issues. Due to a large increase in service requests for drainage assistance from the public, the crew is currently receiving three to four times the normal volume of calls for repairs. Staff recommends that funding be reallocated from the overlay, sidewalk, and trails programs to allow for three additional crews to be assigned to the remediation of these reoccurring drainage problems. This request will provide the Transportation Division with adequate funding to purchase materials to accomplish these goals. BUDGET IMPACT: Funds are currently budgeted in the in-house overlay, sidewalk improvements, and trail development Capital Improvement Program projects. We are requesting reallocation of $100,000 from each of these Transportation Improvement projects which will allow for a total of $300,000 to be established in a drainage maintenance proj ect. RECOMMENDATION: The Transportation Division currently assigns one five person crew to minimize routine drainage issues. Due to a large increase in service requests for drainage assistance from the public, the crew is currently receiving three to four times the normal volume of calls for repairs. Staff recommends that funding be reallocated from the overlay, sidewalk, and trails programs to allow for three additional crews to be assigned to the remediation of these reoccurring drainage problems. This request will provide the Transportation Division with adequate funding to purchase materials to accomplish these goals. BUDGET IMPACT: Funds are currently budgeted in the in-house overlay, sidewalk improvements, and trail development Capital Improvement Program projects. We are requesting reallocation of $100,000 from each of these Transportation Improvement projects which will allow for a total of $300,000 to be established in a drainage maintenance proj ect.
