A RESOLUTION AWARDING BID #10-38 AND APPROVING THE
PURCHASE OF BULLET PROOF VESTS WITH BALLISTIC PANELS AND
CARRIERS FROM TEECO SAFETY, INC. IN A TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $71,672.37 THROUGH THE END OF 2010 AND IN SUCH
AMOUNT IN 2011 AS AUTHORIZED BY THE 2011 CITY BUDGET
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby awards Bid
#10-38 and approves the purchase of bullet proof vests with ballistic panels from Teeco Safety,
Inc. in a total amount not to exceed $71,672.37 through the end of 2010 and in such amount in
2011 as authorized by the 2011 city budget.

Subject: Award Bid 10-38 Bullet Proof Vests
PROPOSAL:
The Fayetteville Police Department provides bullet proof vest for each law enforcement officer. The
vest carries a five (5) year warranty and are replaced when the warranty expires. The bid was opened on May
12, 2010 and we received four (4) bids. See the attached bid tabulation sheet.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends award of Bid 10-38 to Teeco Safety, Inc. The initial purchase of replacement
bulletproof vests with ballistic panels and tactical carriers will be in the amount of $71,672.37. This bid will be
utilized for purchase of future required replacements through December 31, 2011 pending budget approval.
BUDGET IMPACT:
The 2010 budget includes funding from the federal Bullet Proof Vest Partnership Program grant in the
amount of $39,146 to cover fifty percent of the total expense. The balance of the funds needed is included in
the Police Specialized Equipment project.
